Background
In 2012, the old wooden church at Rørvik, Norway, was completely destroyed in a fire. Now, the small town has a new and modern church in place. The church was completed in 2019.
Assignment
On behalf of Vikna Municipality in Norway, Efterklang has completed the acoustic design of building acoustics and room acoustics in the church hall. Even though the visual expression of the church is modern, a traditional and sonorous acoustic expression was desired. An option for variable room acoustics has also been developed.
Result
Variable room acoustics make it possible for Rørvik Church to offer better acoustic ratios for all users thereby increasing the flexibility of the church hall. The church hall can be better utilized for different types of events and activities, which is completely in line with the municipality’s wishes for the new church.
