Background
The Vietnamese Buddhist Community in Norway has a new temple in Jessheim outside of Oslo. The building was inaugurated in 2018 and includes the altar room, offices, meeting rooms and rooms for overnight stays.
Assignment
Efterklang has carried out the acoustic design of the building. The main focus was on ensuring good room acoustics in the large altar room, the Quan Âm Hall, a space designed for up to 600 visitors.
Result
The temple has been adapted to the needs and wishes of the customer. The altar room has a unique wall of 150 tonnes of granite with hand-hued Buddha motifs. In addition to beautiful aesthetics, the wall has an obvious acoustic function and contributes to good sound dispersion throughout the room.
