Background
Magasin X is a unique building where engineering and design go hand in hand. The building is Sweden’s largest office building in solid wood construction.
A building in solid wood construction has several positive effects. Above all, it produces a significantly smaller climate impact compared to traditional building materials such as concrete and steel. However, wood is a lighter material with completely different properties, which creates special requirements on acoustic and sound insulation.
Assignment
On behalf of Vasakronan, we have carried out the acoustic design of the building and created a sound design concept for the coworking space Arena Magasin X and Vasakronan’s own offices.
The office building is built in a busy area next to the railway and bus station. We were responsible for building- and room acoustic. Building acoustics is about handling sound insulation and noise reduction, whereas the room acoustics aims at optimizing acoustic comfort in the office environments, stairwells and common areas.
Result
The building will be certified according to LEED Platinum.
