Background
Gallerian is an iconic shopping mall and meeting point in the middle of Stockholm, and with an area of over 26.000 m2 it’s the largest mall in the inner city. The surrounding block Urban Escape is under great development and Gallerian plays an important role in this new vibrant area. The mall has undergone a transformation both interior and exterior, where the overall experience and the new visual expressions have been enhanced with sound and scent design.
Assignment
The challenge was to create a sound design concept that could be implemented in a large area, with varied ceiling heights and hard material, such as stone and glass. The sound productions were created to reflect Gallerian as a brand, and at the same time be adaptable and flexible, with different intensities depending on location, customer flow and time of day and year. The scent design spreads an even fragrance in the entrances.
Result
Efterklang has created an inspiring and welcoming sound concept, consisting of eleven zones including public areas and entrances. The speaker technology is carefully selected to create a harmonious and well-balanced sound environment in varied surfaces. Audio branded melodies and sound elements are included in all productions and playlists, which creates brand recognition, regardless of location, intensity and feeling. A brand-building scent has been tailored especially for Gallerian and adds an additional dimension to the experience of the place.
