Background
In 2012, Volvo in Olofström was tasked by the County Administrative Board with investigating the consequences of reduced noise conditions to so-called existing industries and newly established industries.
Assignment
Efterklang was assignmented to conduct measurements and propose reasonable noise conditions. The investigation concluded that it would be economically reasonable for Volvo to reduce noise conditions to so-called ‘existing industry’. Lowering the level for newly established industries, which is 5 dbA stricter, would not be economically justifiable. One consequence of such a reduction could be a relocation of Volvo’s operations.
Result
Good collaboration with Volvo resulted in Efterklang becoming the company’s permanent noise consultant. Our role is to ensure an updated calculation model of external noise as well as provide advice, design and consultation of noise-reducing measures where necessary.
