Port of Gothenburg
Background

Port of Gothenburg is Scandinavia’s largest port and was founded back in the 17th century. Over the years, the port has expanded significantly. Currently there are a number of major development projects to further increase the capacity of the port and meet market needs. Efterklang has been a recurrent noise advisor for the port.

Assignment

Efterklang has years of experience in port operations, in Gothenburg and elsewhere. Therefore, we’ve acquired a great deal of expertise regarding Gothenburg operations and their sources of noise. In the light of this, Port of Gothenburg chose to hire us to investigate how future projects and existing operations will affect surrounding areas.

The aim of the study was to describe how noise in the environment has changed from the year 2000 up to today. Furthermore, we made a forecast of how noise will change in the future when the planned development projects have been completed. There has been a specific focus on noise in a Natura2000 area. In order to obtain a complete picture of the noise situation, the investigation also included roads and wind turbines in the area.

Result

Port of Gothenburg now has a good basis for how the noise situation in the area has changed over the years and a forecast for future noise that can be used in further development work.
