Background
In October 2022 Swerock applied, and was granted continued and expanded mining and recycling operations at the company’s existing mining site at Fredriksdal 2:2 in Trosa municipality.
Assignment
During the period of 2019-2022, Efterklang conducted noise inquests for the proposed operations. The study was carried out through several noise measurements in the mine, and noise propagation calculations for each mining situation that is expected to represent the worst-case scenario with regards to noise impact on the surroundings.
Traffic noise inquests have been made on the public road and calculated with and without additional mining traffic along road 838.
Efterklang has also participated in the main hearing which took place in September 2022 at the Land and Environmental Court. Efterklang presented the noise inquests and answered questions from authorities and private individuals.
Result
The noise inquests are a part of the environmental impact assessment, which is part of Swerock’s permit application. A thorough noise study is important for the customer as it simplifies communication with relevant authorities in these matters.
