Background
Kolbotn Omsorgsboliger [Kolbotn Assisted Living] (KOMBO) is built with solid wood construction in natural surroundings in Kolbotn outside of Oslo. The building has 72 apartments offering the residents a quiet and cozy environment, both internally and externally. In addition to apartments, there are different service functions such as common areas for various activities. The building was completed in 2019.
Assignment
Efterklang has been responsible for carrying out the acoustic design, focusing primarily on a high level of sound insulation in a solid wood design. Another aspect that was important to take into consideration was a road tunnel with vehicle traffic located close to the building.
Result
A good sound environment is important for the residents and thus has to be kept in mind during construction. Efterklang has designed good acoustic solutions in close collaboration with the architect and technical advisors at AFRY and AFRY Ark Studio.
