Background
Habitat 7 will be a unique office building built in solid wood construction in Masthuggskajen in central Gothenburg. The district is undergoing an exciting transformation from harbor area to a lively mixed city. As the city now grows towards the water, special considerations have been given to ferry routes and the Stena Line port.
Assignment
Efterklang has been commissioned to design the architectural acoustics of the new office building, which is being built with joists, columns and dormers in solid wood. The joists have a cast of concrete on top to create flexibility in the case of tenant adaptations and the core of the house consists of a stabilizing concrete stairwell part. The building will offer 8,000 square meters of modern office space spread over eight floors. In terms of expression, the natural material choices should characterize the feeling in the office with maximum light penetration through large window sections, verdant plant walls and visible wooden construction.
In order to create a sound environment that harmonizes with the architectural expression, as well as meeting the project’s set requirements, consideration has been given to sound insulation between the various surfaces and areas of use.
Result
Habitat 7 is expected to be completed in December 2024 and will be certified according to Breeam Excellent.
