Sergels Torg, Stockholm
Background

Due to the expansion of the city tram in Stockholm, the area around Sergels Torg was in need of a large renovation. The renovation work started in 2012 and was completed in 2019.

Assignment

Efterklang was assigned by the City of Stockholm to ensure minimal disturbance from the construction work and thereby reduce the loss in revenue for the surrounding businesses. We carried out long term noise monitoring and designed noise mitigation measures to ensure that noise guideline criteria were achieved.

Result

With an extensive bank of experience from environmental noise assignments, we could provide accurate assessments and propose effective noise mitigation methods to benefit both residents and the surrounding businesses. An important aspect of the assignment was to inform the different stakeholders of the renovation project and to arrange information meetings with residents and businesses. We became an important link between the City of Stockholm, the constructor and the public. The assignment was eventually completed in 2019.
