Efterklang involved in new health care project in Falun

Efterklang has been entrusted to contribute with acoustic design for new premises at Falu Hospital in Falun.

The project includes an extension of building 09, an area of approximately 8800 square meters and the rebuilding of parts of building 08, with an estimated area of approximately 1900 sqm. The new premises will be used for intensive care, X-ray, laboratory medicine and oncology. Today, the building houses the emergency room.

The goal is to create conditions for modern high-tech care operations for critically ill patients.

“In the new premises, we want to combine qualified healthcare with a good working environment and create optimal flows, connections and functions that promote efficient and rapid care of critically ill patients. Increased production, including through new technology, means shorter waiting times and safer diagnostics for our patients”, says Sofia Jarl, chair of the health and medical care committee.

In terms of acoustic design, the project contains many challenges, in addition to building acoustics and room acoustics, the assignment includes noise and vibrations from technical equipment.

Construction is scheduled to start in September 2022 and the new premises are planned to be completed in May 2025.
